Archival Custom Framing

Archival or conservation framing is the only type of framing  we do. We believe  each piece should be framed to the highest standards possible. Therefore, we use only UV coated glass and archival mats. We do not use buffered mats which lose their special coating over time and can damage the piece. If you choose a wood frame, we wrap the inside of the frame with a sealant tape that keeps the lignin from escaping into the framed piece and causing damage over time. This service is free of charge. The dust cover on the back of the piece is an extra heavyweight, archival tyvek that is very durable and tear resistant. We do not use wire on the back of the piece, but prefer a flexible parachute cord that will never scratch your hands. These are just a few of the special touches we do free of charge for our customers.

Our specialty is needlepoint lacing and painted mats. In the picture below, the Maine piece is an example of laced needlepoint - no tape or staples are ever used. The piece is placed on an acid-free padded needlepoint board, hand stretched, and laced up the back with cotton mercerized thread. The Bobcat has V-groove mats and the witch has 3-dimensional bats added.

If you value your piece for monetary or sentimental reasons, you can't afford to take it anywhere else!
